Peace Lily, Pelargonium and Coinwort: Separate Care Checks

  • by

Peace lily, pelargonium and coinwort can decline for different reasons, so a rescue routine needs to start with the individual plant. Check its growing medium and recent conditions before applying advice intended for one of the others.

Give each plant its own identity

Peace lilies, pelargoniums and coinwort are unrelated plants with different growth habits. Keep reliable labels instead of grouping them under one household watering rule. Their decorative pots may also conceal very different root systems.

Check the light separately

A peace lily generally suits bright filtered conditions, while many pelargoniums need more direct exposure. Coinwort requirements depend on its actual identity and growing setup. Acclimate sheltered plants gradually rather than moving all three to the same hot windowsill.

Inspect each root zone

Use suitable medium and drainage for the identified plant. Check moisture below the surface before watering and empty collected water. A damp-soil coinwort display is not equivalent to keeping a pelargonium permanently waterlogged.

Prune and propagate appropriately

Remove spent or damaged material carefully, preserving useful growth. Nodes, offsets, divisions and ordinary detached leaves are not interchangeable propagation material. Feed healthy active plants as needed, but diagnose root trouble and unsuitable exposure before using fertilizer to correct every leaf change.
