Topsy Turvy Echeveria and Similar Hybrids

  • by

Topsy Turvy's curved leaves make it distinctive, but names attached to lookalikes can be inconsistent. Compare the mature leaf shape and original labels.

Recognizing the leaf form

Topsy Turvy is known for leaves that curve into an unusual rosette. Compare established leaves rather than new growth alone, and keep the nursery label with the pot. Other succulents can have curved leaves without being the same selection.

Similarity and hybrid names

A lookalike photograph cannot establish that a plant is a hybrid of Topsy Turvy. For parentage, look for documented nursery or breeder information. If that record is not available, use a descriptive comparison and leave the pedigree open.

Comparing plants fairly

Photograph the rosette from above and from the side. Note the leaf outline and the way the tips turn, using plants grown in similar conditions where possible. Keep the plant's identity separate from a temporary change in color or compactness.
