Money tree is used for more than one houseplant. Confirm whether you have Pachira, a ZZ plant or another species before adopting a fixed watering schedule.
Start with the botanical label
Money tree is a broad nursery name. Pachira and the ZZ plant, Zamioculcas, are different houseplants, even when both appear on a shelf under money-related names.
Keep the label or ask the supplier for identification. A photograph of the whole plant and stem arrangement is more useful than a close-up of one glossy leaflet.
Set a routine for the identified plant
Check actual light, drainage and moisture in the root ball. A pot cover can hide standing water, while a small exposed container can dry differently from a larger one.
There is no reliable rule to water every three days in summer and every fortnight in winter for every money tree. Choose species-specific guidance and adjust it to active growth and the growing medium. Investigate leaf loss before changing several conditions or increasing fertiliser.
