Color comes after healthy growth
Campfire crassula is valued for red-toned leaves. Provide useful light and change exposure gradually, but do not force color through extreme drought, cold or scorching sun. Firm new growth is a better starting point for judging care.
Keep the root mix airy
Use a draining container with an open succulent medium. Water when the root zone has dried appropriately, then let excess leave. Stems growing in a small warm pot may need checking more often than those in a cool room.
Shape a spreading plant
Trim selected healthy stems where a fuller outline is wanted. Suitable pieces may be used for propagation with appropriate rooting care. Avoid cutting all useful foliage away from a weak parent.
Check leaf loss in context
Older leaves can fade, while several soft leaves or a weakening base suggest a root and moisture inspection. Feed sparingly during healthy active growth if needed. Concentrated fertilizer will not restore a plant whose roots remain stagnant.
