Quick answer: Grow Aloe vera in a bright position with a well-drained potting mix. Allow the soil to dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and let excess water drain away.
Light
Good light supports growth. When moving an indoor plant into stronger outdoor sunlight, acclimatise it gradually rather than changing exposure suddenly.
Pots and watering
Use a container with drainage holes. Check soil moisture before watering instead of following a fixed number of days. Empty any saucer after watering. Waterlogged soil can cause root rot, so a large pot that stays wet is not necessarily an improvement.
Repotting and propagation
Repot when the plant needs fresh growing medium or more root space, without jumping to an oversized container. Aloe vera produces offshoots that can be divided to make new plants. Handle them carefully to preserve their roots.
