The antler nickname is used for branched, fleshy-leaved plants and is not a complete botanical identification. Confirm the species before choosing winter protection or imposing a summer rest. Similar leaf shapes can conceal different growth cycles.
Observe firm new growth
Provide suitable brightness and introduce stronger sun gradually. Pale stretched stems can indicate a light problem, while sudden bleached patches may follow excessive exposure. More water cannot reverse sun damage already present in a leaf.
Check the roots during seasonal changes
Use a suitable draining medium and inspect moisture below the surface. Adjust watering to actual activity and drying, allowing surplus to leave. A slowdown during heat should be understood before either repeated soaking or complete prolonged withholding of water is chosen.
Renew without spreading decay
Use healthy material for suitable cuttings and remove deteriorated tissue carefully. A soft base needs investigation rather than a stronger feeding routine. Give any new roots appropriate establishment conditions instead of treating an unrooted cutting as a mature drought-tolerant plant.
