Before growing mugwort indoors, consider its size and scent in the room where it will stand. A pleasant impression outdoors does not tell you how the same plant will feel beside a desk or in a small living space.
Confirm the plant's identity and its growing requirements. A common name on an unlabelled bunch is not a reliable basis for selecting a permanent container plant.
Separate display from growing conditions
An attractive corner may provide too little light or too little space for the plant's growth. Check the actual position before buying a large decorative pot to fit it.
Think about access for watering, pruning and removing fallen material. If the plant will need frequent movement to make the room usable, the arrangement is unlikely to be convenient for long.
Start with a manageable, correctly identified plant and observe it in the intended position. Avoid treating a strong scent as evidence of a health benefit or a reason to tolerate unsuitable growing conditions. Your decision can be simpler: whether the plant grows appropriately there and whether you want that size and fragrance in the room.
For one common mugwort, Artemisia vulgaris, NC Extension describes a sun-loving, rhizome-spreading perennial that can be invasive in some areas. That profile does not identify every plant sold as mugwort or establish that a dim indoor corner is suitable.
