A fiddle-leaf fig needs enough light and room to grow. When leaves fall, check the plant's recent conditions instead of assuming the pot size explains every problem.
Put leaf loss in context
A fiddle-leaf fig can drop leaves after a move, severe drying, persistently wet roots or other stress. One fallen leaf does not identify the cause. Review recent conditions and inspect the root zone before deciding the plant needs more water.
Look beneath the surface
A large pot can retain moisture below a dry top layer. Check the depth where roots are growing and inspect any collected water inside an outer container. A dense nursery plug can behave differently from a newer surrounding mix.
Stabilize the growing position
Provide useful filtered light, avoiding abrupt hot sun, cold drafts and direct heater exposure. Make changes gradually and then watch fresh growth. Repeated moves between rooms can add stress without resolving a root problem.
Keep recovery modest
Remove fully dead material and keep leaves clean, but postpone unnecessary severe pruning or repotting until the problem is understood. Feed lightly only during healthy active growth. Damaged leaves will not become unmarked again, so look for stable stems, sound roots and well-formed new foliage.
